School Meals Free to All Students Through December 2020
The U.S. Department of Agriculture is extending a waiver, initially granted in March when schools closed due to the coronavirus pandemic, that will allow schools to serve meals to all school-aged children through December 2020 at no cost to families.
After receiving approval for our waiver application, this will begin immediately. The waiver will also cover meals purchased Sept 1-4, but the cafeteria program will need ample time to credit those funds back to your meal account. Please be patient. No cash refunds will be given.
Families are still responsible for any breakfast/lunch debts accumulated in August. Also, students will need money in their account if they wish to purchase "extras" beyond the regular meals.
State Superintendent Eric Mackey said he is pleased with the waiver extension. "Health and safety are primary needs for all children in order to be ready to learn, and food security is the first step in building a healthy body and mind," he said. This is a very positive move for our students."
