Students
Tuscumbia City Schools prides itself on offering a rigorous educational experience for our students. In 2019, Tuscumbia City Schools entered in to a partnership with the Alabama Best Practices Center's APlus College Ready Program to offer intensive professional development in grades 6-10 and six new Advanced Placement courses. Beginning in the 6th grade, students can elect to take honors level courses in all four core subject areas including Computer Science. This transition enables the district to maintain its competitive edge and continue to brighten the education of our upper level students.
Students in grades K-5 are also encouraged to dream big and are afforded many opportunities to develop sustainable learning methods and skills. GW Trenholm focuses on early reading utilizing the Sonday System and is also a regional dyslexia pilot school for the state of Alabama. Beginning in 2020, RE Thompson will use the Sonday System in the 3rd grade to continue the streamlined learning model that has been so effective for our early learners.
