Advanced Placement

Advanced Placement (AP) exams are standardized tests created by the College Board to assess a student's mastery of college-level material in specific subjects.  These exams are typically taken at the end of an AP course and can lead to college credit or advanced placement in college courses if a student achieves a qualifying score. Each AP exam is tailored to its corresponding AP course and assesses both foundational knowledge and higher-order thinking skills. They generally include multiple-choice and free-response sections, and the length of the exam varies depending on the subject. AP exams are scored on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the highest score. Many colleges grant credit and/or advanced placement for scores of 3 or higher.
