Alabama Early Learning Inventory- AL-ELI

The Alabama Early Learning Inventory (AL ELI) is a formative assessment used in ALabama to track the learning development of kindergarten students.  It is a digital platform that allows teachers to assess students across six domains of learning and development.  The AL ELI helps kindergarten teachers understand each student's strengths and areas for growth, enabling them to personalize instruction. It covers 16 developmental progressions across six domains of learning and development. The AL ELI is a collaborative effort between the Alabama State Department of Education and the Alabama Department of Early Childhood Education. Beginning 2025-2026 school year, the AL-ELI will also be used to meet the Alabama First Grade Readiness Act requirements.
