Mrs. Tanisha Garner
On October 13th, 2023, I will celebrate 22 years of marriage with my college sweetheart, Kendrick. My husband works as a Senior Manufacturing Engineer.
We have two beautiful daughters, Takena and Kendyl.
Takena graduated as Salutatorian of the Brooks High School Class of 2023. She is in her Freshman year at the University of North Alabama, majoring in Engineering Technology with a concentration in Bioengineering. However, due to the dual-enrollment classes taken while she was a student at Brooks High School, she is currently classified as a Sophomore.
Kendyl is a 10th grader at Brooks High School. Kendyl is in her 3rd year as a Brooks High School Cheerleader, her first year as a Varsity Cheerleader.
We also have a Yorkie named Simone Quistine; she will turn 9 in November.
Experience:
I have been teaching 7th grade Mathematics at Deshler Middle School since August 2016. I am in my 11th year of teaching 7th grade Mathematics!
Be prepared...I LOVE MATH!!!
There are two 7th Grade Math Courses offered: Math 7 and Accelerated Math 7.
Accelerated Math 7 has 44 Math Standards: 21--7th grade Math Standards, 19--8th grade Math Standards, and 4--Algebra I with Probability Standards.
In contrast, Math 7 has 22 Math Standards.
From Fall 2017 - Spring 2020, I was the Project Lead The Way (PLTW) Medical Detectives Facilitator.
Teaching is my 2nd career but definitely my TRUE CALLING. Before I became a Math Teacher, I worked in the Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment Fields as a Certified Prevention Specialist and Adolescent Substance Abuse Treatment Counselor for four years.
