Mrs. Tanisha Garner

On October 13th, 2020, I will celebrate 19 years of marriage with my college sweetheart, Kendrick. My husband works as a Senior Manufacturing Engineer.

We have two beautiful daughters, Takena and Kendyl.

Takena is a 10th grader at Brooks High School. She is a member of the Brooks Lions Varsity Girls Basketball Team. She has been playing basketball for Brooks High School for 4 years.

Kendyl is a 7th grader at Brooks High School. Kendyl has been an AYSO soccer player for 8 years, since she was 4 years old.

We also have a Yorkie named Simone Quistine; she will turn 6 in November.

Experience:

I am in my 5th year teaching 7th grade Mathematics at Deshler Middle School, and my 8th year of teaching 7th grade Mathematics! Be prepared...I LOVE MATH!!!

Teaching is my 2nd career but definitely my CALLING. With my first career, I worked in the Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment Fields as a Certified Prevention Specialist and Adolescent Substance Abuse Treatment Counselor.

For the 2020-2021 School Year, I will be piloting the new Accelerated Math 7 Course of Study.

Accelerated Math 7 has 44 Math Standards: 21--7th grade Math Standards, 19--8th grade Math Standards, and 4--Algebra I with Probability Standards.

In contrast, Math 7 has 22 Math Standards.

Deshler Middle School will be entering our 2nd year as an A+ College Ready School. This increased rigor allows students to strive for the excellence we know they possess.

From Fall 2017 - Spring 2020, I was the Project Lead The Way (PLTW) Medical Detectives Facilitator.
