Ms. Akeema Rutland
Hello and Welcome!
I am ecstatic that you are here! The joys of educating, mentoring, and challenging teenagers fulfill my desire to make a positive impact on the world. I started my career in education in 2013 and since then, I've had the opportunity to teach the complex rules of the English language to some pretty awesome students in middle school (sixth-eigth grade) and high school (ninth, tenth, and twelfth grade).
In short, I LOVE WHAT I DO!
As a child, attending school, learning new concepts, and taking pride and ownership in my assignments and projects was my idea of childhood fun. Now, I know exactly what you're thinking, "Completing an assignment for school is not an example of childhood fun," but it can and should be. As a teacher, my goal is to challenge students to produce original thoughts and opinions and develop them into complex ideas that can be supported with valid logic and evidence through communicating, using technology, and incorporating real world practicality while maintaining a positive, spirited, caring, engaged, diverse, and fun classroom environment. There is power and beauty in knowledge! It is my hope that each precious soul that enters my classroom leaves with a new outlook on English and life.
