History
Tuscumbia City Schools supports career and technical education. For many years, students from other systems attended Drafting, Electronics, and Health Science at the Deshler Career Tech Center.
In January, 2017, Tuscumbia City Schools submitted a request to the Alabama Department of Education to become a Career Tech Center. The Deshler Career Tech Center was approved for the 2018-2019 school year.
The Center opened with six programs: Agriscience; Business Management and Administration; Drafting Design Technology; Food, Wellness and Dietetics; Health Science, and Information Technology. Over the past two years, we have added PLTW AP Computer Science, PLTW Engineering, and Dual Enrollment CIS classes. For the 2020-2021 school year, students will have the opportunity to experience hands-on financial literacy with the Bank Independent Tiger Branch.
We continue to work with business and industry partners to determine skills needed for our area and then to prepare students to meet those needs.
